Missions
When people hear the word “missions,” they often think of service projects in some other part of the world. Others consider evangelism to be done across cultures. We believe that “missions” means taking the gospel beyond your community, often accompanied by some type of service offering. Thus, if evangelism is not a key component, it may be ministry, but it isn’t missions.
We want to engage churches to partner together in missions in a couple of different ways. First, there are some smaller churches within our association that could use help. Sometimes that help is painting the outside or inside of a building, updating the landscape, and the like. As we become aware of these needs, we want to connect some of our medium and large churches to try to take on these projects, simply to help make a better impact on the kingdom of Christ.
Second, some churches don’t have anyone planning or promoting mission trips within their churches. Or a few churches have a couple of people interested in missions, but they don’t have requests for two-person mission teams. We want to help connect those who are interested in missions with churches that need a few more people, or partner a few small churches together to combine their people as part of an associational mission trip.
While some of our churches already have ongoing mission partnerships in various places, GOBA leadership has connections in Southeast Asia, Kenya, Romania, among Native Americans in the USA, and more. If you have people in your church ready to go on mission, please reach out to GOBA at goba@goba.org so we can get them connected with others to take the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ across our city, to our nation, or around the world.
