Church Planting

GOBA partners with the Florida Baptist Convention and the North American Mission Board (NAMB) to plant healthy churches in multiple languages throughout our city. The biblical model for planting churches is when churches send out one or more people to take the gospel somewhere and start a new church (see Acts 13ff where the Antioch Church sent out Paul and Barnabas to take the gospel to new places—as new believers received the Lord, new churches began). Thus, each of our entities (GOBA, FLBC, and NAMB) will ask for a sending church endorsement.

If the Lord is calling you to plant a Southern Baptist church in the Greater Orlando area, we want to help you get connected to a larger network of churches. Below are two points of contact to get you started:

  • Contact Dr. Joel Breidenbaugh, Executive Director of Missions of GOBA, at DrJoelB@goba.org. Once you meet with him, he will share with you the process of becoming part of GOBA. He will also connect you to representatives with the FLBC and NAMB for potential funding options.
  • Locally, an inter-denominational collaboration of church planters gathers monthly for encouragement and training through the Orlando Church Planting Network. More information can be found at PlantOrlando.org.
