GOBA’s Congregational Health Assessments

(In Cooperation with The Renovate Group)

Every church needs to at times observe where it is going and from where it has come.  Weather it is the setting of milestones or benchmarks, the local church just can’t sit around and be motionless in the world in which we minister. Motionless churches and motionless church members are often the two critical ingredients to the gradual decline of a local church. While the world changes all around the local church, it fails to remain on the cutting edge of relevancy and is left with a message that is out of date and not in step with the things the Lord desires to impact a community. When this happens, it is time to conduct a few assessments in order to consider the church’s options for advancement and renewal.

Conducting a Church Assessment

A key step toward Church Revitalization is the willingness to make an honest and well-rounded evaluation of the current state of the church’s ministry, vision, attitudes, environment, and performance. A good assessment will enable leaders to gain a clear and reliable picture of the church that means so much to them. An assessment will also provide leaders with some criteria to use when determining priority actions. An assessment can provide a sense of empowerment from the church to address areas identified as needing attention.
